Yemaya – Okuo and Other Songs.
Here is the first track we’ve recorded as as part of a project that I started in order to explore the combination of aesthetics from the Afro-Cuban, Euro-Classical, and Jazz traditions in music. Another track is listed below.
The project is called “Yanine” because my middle name is Janine. When I was in Cuba, people found “Jeryl’ hard to pronounce, so they called me “Yanine” instead. This nickname became my favorite souvenir, and the title of my project.
