Music as Inquiry
Music has been the center of my professional life in several ways at once. I compose, perform, teach, and research because each activity helps to ask different questions about how music shapes our lives, and how new tools and ways of thinking shape our music.
In creating new works, engaging in research, and developing new approaches to teaching, my work explores creativity, pedagogy, technology, and collaboration across cultures and musical traditions.

Composer
I compose music as a way of exploring questions rather than illustrating answers. My work is shaped by curiosity about musical cultures, creative technologies, collaboration, and the ways people make meaning through sound. Whether writing for acoustic instruments, electronic media, or interdisciplinary projects, I seek music that invites listening, dialogue, and discovery.
Performer
Performance is an opportunity to share ideas through music and to connect with audiences, collaborators, and communities. I value performances that are thoughtful, engaging, and responsive to the moment, believing that music comes fully to life through the interaction between performers, listeners, and the spaces they inhabit.
Teacher
Teaching is an extension of my creative practice. I strive to cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and confidence by encouraging students to ask meaningful questions about music rather than simply memorizing established answers. My goal is to help students become thoughtful listeners, creative problem-solvers, and lifelong learners, regardless of their musical background.
Scholar
My research explores music as a site of inquiry, with particular interests in composition, pedagogy, technology, ethics, and intercultural collaboration. I am interested in how musical practices shape—and are shaped by—broader cultural, historical, and philosophical questions. Through scholarship, I seek to contribute to conversations that deepen our understanding of music’s role in education, creativity, and society.
